Join our dynamic manufacturing engineering team and play a pivotal role in optimizing and advancing our manufacturing processes through automation. As a Senior Automation Engineer, you will lead the development and implementation of automated systems to enhance production efficiency, ensure product quality, and partner on sustainable equipment solutions supporting our Net 0 goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Analyze current systems and workflows to identify opportunities for automation and implement improvements to existing and future processes and systems.
  • Design, develop, and implement advanced automation systems tailored for technical apparel manufacturing.
  • Partner with equipment suppliers and integrators on trial automation to improve quality and productivity of current manufacturing processes.
  • Lead automation projects from conception to deployment, including planning, execution, and evaluation.
  • Mentor engineering technicians, engineers, and co-ops, providing technical guidance on the mastery of equipment and automation.
  • Collaborate closely with our Design Centre and successfully influence a more effective partnership in design, development, and advanced manufacturing.
  • Stay abreast of the latest advancements in automation technology and industry trends, proposing and developing innovative solutions to enhance our manufacturing capabilities and maintain a competitive edge.
Future Opportunities:
  • Rethink the manufacturing process of our flagship product, the Alpha SV, by integrating controls and automation with process design to drive improvement in Quality and Production KPIs.
  • Drive innovation by collaborating with the R&D team to test advanced technologies and refine next-generation products such as our iconic climbing harness.
  • Champion our rapidly growing focus on sustainability by developing equipment-based improvements in our Warranty and Repair department and leading product-based initiatives such as our ReBird project.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering specializing in mechanical or mechatronics.
  • 5+ years of experience in a related field.
  • Proven experience as an automation engineer or in a similar role, showcasing hands-on expertise in developing and implementing automations.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, tools, and common troubleshooting techniques, with a commitment to safety and quality standards.
  • 3+ years of experience working in an apparel or outdoor equipment manufacturing facility with sound knowledge of garment or equipment construction.
  • 2+ years of experience in a leadership role, able to effectively pass knowledge on and train others.
  • Mastery of continuous improvement, recognized for facilitating change, and experience in 5S, LEAN manufacturing, machine automation, and project management.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, able to balance autonomy and collaboration, with the ability to deal with difficult situations with tact and professionalism.
  • Proven track record of sound judgment, working independently to achieve success with minimal guidance, and skillfully navigating conversations to influence change and achieve results.

A competitive salary range of CAD$91,000 - CAD$114,000 per year, with a bonus program and benefits package that reflects our commitment to attracting and retaining top talent.
