As an Articling Accountant with our Assurance & Accounting team, you'll provide comprehensive financial information to clients, enabling them to make informed decisions with confidence.

You will develop technical skills in areas such as compilations, reviews, audits, bookkeeping and tax, and apply knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and/or Accounting Standards for Private Enterprise (ASPE).

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Setting up files for new clients and newly incorporated businesses, managing multiple files simultaneously and conducting inventory counts
  • Performing accounts receivable, accounts payable, capital asset acquisition and disposition and payroll walk-throughs with clients in a professional manner
  • Summarizing current financial status by collecting information and preparing balance sheets, profit and loss statements and other relevant reports
  • Evaluating audit evidence for expenses, revenues, capital asset additions, accounts payable, accounts receivable and prepaid expenses
  • Reviewing, investigating and correcting discrepancies and irregularities in financial entries, documents and reports
  • Establishing charts of accounts and preparing entries for posting to accounts
  • Preparing correspondence, technical reports, client summaries and presentations outlining engagement findings, facts and highlights
  • Collaborating with client engagement teams and building relationships with client contacts
  • Contributing to the development of new ideas and approaches to improve work processes while effectively using MNP internal programs and systems

We offer a competitive salary of $80,000 per year, plus benefits and opportunities for growth and development.

To be considered for this role, you should have:

  • A bachelor's degree in commerce or business administration (accounting or finance major preferred)
  • Completion of prerequisites for admission into the CPA Professional Education Program (PEP) upon commencement of employment
  • Previous accounting-related office experience is considered an asset
  • Customer service and/or client service experience is considered an asset
  • Experience working with accounting and tax software is considered an asset
