Job Overview: The Waterloo Region District School Board is seeking an experienced Education Assistant to support students with special needs in our schools. As an EA, you will work closely with teachers and other educational staff to provide individualized support to students, helping them achieve their academic and personal goals.

About the Role: This is a challenging yet rewarding role that requires a high level of empathy, patience, and understanding. You will be responsible for creating a safe and inclusive learning environment, supporting students with physical, emotional, and behavioral needs, and collaborating with educators to develop and implement personalized plans.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct support to students with special needs, including assisting with daily living skills, communication, and mobility
  • Collaborate with teachers and other educational staff to develop and implement individualized plans
  • Create a safe and inclusive learning environment, promoting social, emotional, and academic growth
  • Support students with physical, emotional, and behavioral needs, using positive behavior supports and interventions
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and report regularly to teachers and other stakeholders


Requirements: To be successful in this role, you will require a diploma or degree in a child-related field, along with experience working with children with special needs. A valid Behaviour Management Systems certification is also preferred.
