Regulatory Affairs Compliance Director

The Compliance Risk Country Officer (CRCO) at Citigroup Inc. is responsible for overseeing the Compliance Program for all Citi activity within Canada, ensuring global policies, standards, and processes are applied and suitable addenda established to comply with applicable laws and regulations.

Responsibilities include implementing applicable global compliance processes, setting priorities, and driving transformation. The CRCO will work closely with senior product, function, and regional management on strategic initiatives and emerging issues.

In situations where this role is the designated Legal Entity Compliance Officer, responsibilities will extend towards legal entities under their purview. Identification of jurisdictional requirements, accountabilities, and process ownership will be set out in a plan reviewed quarterly with the jurisdictional CCC and ICRM.

  • State of Compliance Reporting: Preparing quarterly reports in accordance with the approved global format, and presenting them to the appropriate Country Coordinating Committee and legal entity Board or Board Audit Committee.
  • Maintaining ongoing assessment and reporting of the State of Compliance through corporate governance committees such as country audit committee(s) and/or subsidiary board(s), country coordinating committee, and business risk management committee.
  • Proactively anticipating changes in the compliance and regulatory environment and providing support to compliance programs and country/business management on policy interpretation and exposures.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Regulatory Management and Coordination: Supporting the CCOBH in managing and developing regulatory relationships, and coordinating with regulators on compliance risk management issues.
  • Compliance Technology and Automation; Data, Metrics, and Analytics: Supporting ICRM efforts to enhance technology and automation across the function, and providing relevant information related to data to enhance metrics and analytics for compliance risk.
Qualifications:
  • Credibility as a subject matter expert and experience dealing with high-impact issues
  • Experience working with key country-level regulators and industry associations
  • Knowledge of local regulatory requirements and obligations, and ability to identify emerging compliance issues and themes
Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree highly preferred or relevant equivalent experience
