Job Overview

The Business Intelligence and Data Insights Professional will be part of the EIS team at PCL's North American Headquarters in Edmonton, Alberta. This role involves transforming raw data into actionable insights that support decision-making across all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities
  • Translate business requirements into design, development, and maintenance of production reports and dashboards.
  • Source data from various structured and unstructured data sources.
  • Design and develop data models to support self-service business intelligence and analytics.
  • Develop and maintain Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation.
  • Define test plans and execute test cases to ensure business intelligence content meets quality assurance standards.
  • Maintain adherence to PCL's data governance and security policies.
  • Liaise with business, technology, and support teams to ensure business requirements are met.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in Computer Science (or equivalent education).
  • At least 3 years of experience in designing and developing business intelligence solutions, data management, and data modeling.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with data visualization tools such as Microsoft Power BI.
  • Proficiency in ETL development.
  • Solid understanding of data modeling and relational database design and implementation techniques.
  • Experience in User Interface/User Experience (UI/UX) development as it applies to dashboard and report design.
  • Excellent problem-solving and data-analysis skills.
  • Experience in the complete software development lifecycle (SDLC), including requirements analysis, design, development, QA, maintenance, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) and version control tools.
  • Effective communication and writing skills necessary to lead technical discussions and information-gathering sessions.
Compensation and Benefits

The estimated salary range for this position is between $80,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
