Data Center Architect Position

IPEX is a leading provider of advanced plastic piping systems in North America, dedicated to crafting a better tomorrow by connecting people with water and energy.

We are seeking a motivated and passionate candidate to serve as an IT Infrastructure Architect, enabling the Infrastructure to achieve its objectives through effective technology utilization.

This position will report to the Data Center & Hosting Manager and be based in Montreal.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide project/operations-specific architectural designs, solutions, and implementation plans for the Data Center Team.
  • Evaluate and develop optimized infrastructure designs based on rigorous understanding of returned benefits and impact on Business or IT.
  • Ensure architecture is designed with 'Security by Design' principles, incorporating security controls and measures at the design phase to mitigate potential risks and threats.
  • Review and assist in choosing the right technology for the context.
  • Evaluate entire projects from a technical stance, guaranteeing that methods and technologies used are practical and correct and fit for purpose.
  • Validate and challenge detailed technical infrastructure architectures provided by technology partners, team members, and vendors in support of a project or Operation technical solution.
  • Assist in transitioning the project to Operations.
  • Act as a final point of escalation within their area of expertise for any Data Center architecture.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related technical discipline.
  • 10+ years of total experience in IT with relevant technologies.
  • 5+ years of experience in the analysis and understanding of Infrastructure related to Data Center, hardware, and systems including servers, network, security, storage, and compute for traditional, hybrid, or cloud Data Centers.
  • 5+ years of experience in various IT roles and environments up to and including technical or IT team leadership positions.
  • 5+ years of experience with cloud methodologies (IaaS, PaaS & SaaS), automation, orchestration, cost frameworks, trends, and Industry-leading private/public/hybrid cloud vendor offerings and interoperability.
  • 5+ years of experience in a technical infrastructure design role and demonstration of subject expertise.
Competencies
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal presentation skills in English (French is a plus).
  • Demonstrate strong applied knowledge of layered architectures, virtualized environments, security, monitoring, and high availability systems.

The estimated salary for this position is around $120,000 per year, considering the location and job requirements.
