Job Title: Birth Doula

Sea Mar Community Health Centers is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Birth Doula to join our team. As a Birth Doula, you will provide emotional, physical, and educational support to expectant mothers and their families, promoting a positive and empowering birth experience.

Job Summary:

The Birth Doula will work closely with our Maternity Support Services team to provide comprehensive care to pregnant and postpartum women. This role requires a strong commitment to providing culturally sensitive and patient-centered care, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide emotional and physical support to expectant mothers and their families during pregnancy, labor, and postpartum
  • Attend prenatal meetings to establish patient preferences and requirements
  • Remain with the mother throughout labor and provide physical and emotional support during childbirth
  • Visit the home of the mother after discharge to assist with the care of the baby and provide ongoing support
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers and other community resources to ensure comprehensive care
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; degree in a related field preferred
  • At least 17 years of age; or under special circumstances, an out-of-school youth 16 years of age
  • Ability to interpret documents, write routine reports, and communicate effectively with clients and staff
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to compile and interpret information
  • Ability to work independently, use good judgment, and prioritize workloads
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions
