Job Summary

The Medical Device Reprocessing Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient reprocessing of reusable medical and surgical equipment. This position involves decontamination, reprocessing, and preparation of equipment, as well as performing other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Decontaminate and reprocess reusable medical and surgical equipment
  • Prepare equipment for use in surgical procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management

Requirements

  • Grade 12 education or equivalent
  • CSAO Techniques Course or equivalent course, or successful completion of CSAO Course within the last 5 years
  • Recent relevant experience with a minimum 1-2 years technical/reprocessing experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of instrumentation and manual dexterity in handling and preparation of complex surgical instruments
  • Ability to follow instructions and work with limited supervision
  • Ability to work as part of a team and encourage teamwork
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to read, write comprehensively, and understand English
  • Ability to prioritize tasks
  • Able to lift and carry heavy items, push and pull carts, stand and walk for prolonged periods, and perform repetitive tasks
  • Ability to work with cleaning agents and germicides and wear personal protective attire
