We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Science Liaison to join our team based in the Greater Toronto Area. As a Medical Science Liaison, you will play a crucial role in building key opinion leader partnerships and exchanging scientific data with external stakeholders in the rare disease space.

About the Role
  • Build strong relationships with recognized community and academic medical center KOLs to identify and address scientific needs and stay up-to-date on current trends in assigned therapeutic areas.
  • Identify and develop national, regional, and local key thought leaders for medical education, clinical research, and publication opportunities.
  • Cultivate existing and identify new collaborative KOL relationships for advisory boards, company-sponsored research, and speaker development.
  • Provide valuable insights gained from the field to field managers and teams to elevate within the organization.
  • Support healthcare professionals at key institutions by providing medical support and scientific education.
  • Foster professional relationships in key institutions for the company within an assigned geography.
  • Recognize opportunities to facilitate cross-functional engagement based on customer needs.
  • Identify and characterize needs within therapeutic areas related to real-world evidence.
  • Represent the company's Medical Affairs at national, regional, and local scientific meetings.
  • Provide field-based medical affairs assistance for clinical research initiatives supported by the company, including Investigator-Initiated Trials and other collaborative initiatives.
  • Deliver high-caliber medical education presentations in various settings.
  • Gather and disseminate competitive intelligence from multiple sources in accordance with company policies.
  • Participate in and contribute to publication planning, clinical research, medical education material development, and internal training initiatives.
  • Partner cross-functionally in assigned regions to optimize customer experience.
  • Contribute to monthly medical meetings, including journal clubs and team meetings.
  • Lead and support internal medical projects.
  • Support cross-functional projects and streamline medical input.
  • Accurately and timely complete all administrative reports, projects, and required training.
  • Participate in continuing education to maintain high-level expertise in assigned therapeutic areas.
About You
  • You hold a graduate-level degree (PharmD, M.D., D.O., PhD, MSN, MS, or equivalent healthcare professional degree).
  • You have relevant clinical experience.
  • You possess 3-5 years of MSL experience, specifically within rare diseases.
  • You have experience working cross-functionally with different teams, such as market access and commercial.
  • You are highly articulate and persuasive during formal and informal presentations, able to convey complex scientific ideas fluently to any audience.
  • You can tactfully provide scientifically sound, constructive feedback to national, regional, and local KOLs and HCPs.
  • You are adept at confidently stating expert opinions while respecting the positions of others, exerting diplomacy while standing firm on a position.
  • You build and leverage strategic internal and external relationships to identify potential opportunities and partnerships to provide value and improve quality of care for providers and patients.
  • You utilize effective, professional communications to cultivate strong working relationships with internal and external colleagues.
  • You work effectively on multi-disciplinary teams to achieve desired outcomes.
  • You skillfully plan, prioritize, and execute multiple responsibilities with minimal supervision in a highly dynamic work environment.
  • You maintain a positive attitude and demonstrate flexibility during challenging situations.
  • You possess excellent written business communication skills, able to present complex messages to various audiences, and are an effective listener, assessing the need of your audience.
  • You demonstrate critical thinking skills and reasoning, gathering relevant information systematically, seeking input from others, considering a broad range of issues or factors, grasping complexities, perceiving relationships among data, events, problems, or issues, using accurate logic, generating suitable alternatives, and accurate solutions.
