Destination Canada: A Leader in Corporate Communications

Destination Canada seeks a highly skilled and experienced Corporate Communications Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our communications team, you will play a pivotal role in both media relations and industry communications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft and disseminate communications products to industry partners, including presentations and web, print, and social media copy.
  • Coordinate the communication of industry intelligence to industry partners in a timely, relevant, accurate, and effective manner.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with industry communications professionals and work on joint initiative communications.
  • Support media relations, including managing inquiries, preparing news releases, drafting media responses, and ensuring crisis communications plans are current and relevant.
  • Liaise with press attending Destination Canada events.
  • Provide backup support on managing corporate communications channels, including the corporate website and corporate social media.

Requirements:

Graduation from a recognized university in Communications or Public Relations, or an acceptable and proven combination of education, training, and experience.

5+ years of experience in communications roles, including experience developing and implementing communications plans and projects.

Experience engaging with researchers and data analysts, and/or working with institutions or think tanks in the field of research and analysis is an asset.

Experience working with media.

Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of corporate communications and media relations practices, principles, and techniques.
  • Knowledge of stakeholder management and engagement techniques.
  • Solid understanding of latest AI tools and their application in communications.
  • Knowledge of federal government and Crown corporation communications practices and context is an asset.
  • Outstanding writing and editing skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, able to work with all levels of the organization and feel comfortable working directly with senior leaders and executives.
  • Able to manage multiple priorities, projects, and deadlines.
  • Project management.

  • Proactive and self-driven, able to work independently.
  • Ability to leverage AI tools to enhance work output.
