Description

MDA Space, a trusted mission partner to the global space industry, is seeking a skilled Mechanical Designer of Space Products to join our Satellite systems team in Montreal. As a Mechanical Designer of Space Products, you will work with a multi-disciplinary engineering team to develop antennas or structures used on state-of-the-art satellites.

Responsibilities:

  • Design mechanical components for antennas, payloads, or space electronics units
  • Understand client requirements
  • Propose concepts that meet requirements
  • Select/design components according to constraints
  • Integrate concepts from electrical, material, structural, and thermal engineering disciplines into a 3D model
  • Develop/revise fabrication drawings, assembly, and parts lists
  • Evaluate system costs, establish schedules
  • Monitor component suppliers' activities
  • Support integration and testing of components into higher-level assemblies (during design and manufacturing phases)
  • Develop mass budgets
  • Present concepts to the customer

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or other equivalent
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical design
  • Good communication skills
  • Knowledge of MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Excel

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual (English/French)
  • Experience in the field of mechanical design
  • Knowledge of geometric tolerancing, drawing standards
  • Knowledge of CAD design (NX, Creo, or Catia)
  • Knowledge of the space industry

Security Clearance:

Successful candidates must obtain and hold security clearance at the reliability status level and pass security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and ITAR.
