Job Summary

Baird & Associates Coastal Engineers Ltd. is seeking a highly skilled Coastal Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our design and development team, you will be responsible for applying advanced design engineering techniques to deliver innovative coastal and marine projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the design and development of coastal and marine projects, including the application of moderate-to-advanced design engineering techniques.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers to plan, research, design, and engineer coastal and marine projects.
  • Lead the collection and analysis of data to inform project decisions.
  • Develop project manuals, including plans and specifications.
  • Assist in project management, including client interaction, project budget and schedule control, and coordination of quality control procedures.
  • Support the administration and on-site observation of marine construction projects.
  • Participate in proposal preparation and interviews to attract new clients and retain existing ones.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Ocean, or Coastal Engineering or a closely related field from an accredited university or college.
  • Professional engineering license or the ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • Minimum 5 years of coastal or marine engineering experience in a consulting or contractor role.
  • Demonstrated experience in project design or construction involving coastal and marine structures, ecosystem restoration, or navigation and dredging.
  • Flexible work style with the ability to thrive in a dynamic work environment, meet challenging deadlines, and client needs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of codes and standards relative to coastal engineering.
  • Ability to clearly document the basis of design, including design codes and standards, data analysis, assumptions, calculations, and conclusions.
  • Construction experience related to waterfront and coastal projects.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally to undertake job duties.
