At Ventura Foods, we are seeking a skilled Talent Acquisition & HR Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Human Resources department, you will play a crucial role in assisting with the timely recruitment of various operations roles, as well as coordinating and onboarding temporary staffing.

About the Role

This position is an internal resource for managers and supervisors on employment matters, ensuring adherence to legislation, company policies, and other matters related to staffing and performance. The successful candidate will have previous talent acquisition experience in both hourly and professional roles, as well as 2+ years of Human Resources Generalist experience in a manufacturing environment.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of human resources principles, best practices, and applicable HR legislation. They will be highly proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

The Talent Acquisition & HR Specialist will be responsible for:

  • Full cycle recruitment, including reviewing job requisitions, completing intake calls, finalizing job descriptions, job postings, sourcing, pre-screening, completing references and background checks, preparing offer letters, and new hire orientations;
  • Delivering positive candidate experiences by managing candidate communication and maintaining candidate relationships;
  • Recruiting based on current and future business needs in a timely manner and ensuring all aspects of the recruitment process are being maintained and upheld;
  • Coordinating with HRM and Plant Leadership to determine temporary staffing needs on a weekly basis and completing temporary staff onboarding as required;
  • Assisting in managing the talent acquisition workflow from initial search through the first 90 days of employment for assigned roles;
  • Maintaining recruitment trackers and recruitment KPIs;
  • Partnering with managers to assess personnel needs and developing recruiting strategies to attract talented candidate pools - implementing and adapting processes to improve current practices;
  • Administering and submitting all hiring paperwork for new employees;
  • Maintaining employee files by updating as required;
  • Supporting payroll administration, ensuring databases are up-to-date with information, including employee records;
  • Providing consultation and advice to people leaders on a variety of employee relations and human resource issues;
  • Ensuring legal compliance of federal and provincial regulations and applicable employment laws;
  • Investigating, supporting, and making recommendations on the resolution of employee relations/human resources-related issues;
  • Preparing and distributing various HR reports upon request;
  • Leading AODA compliance and helping drive a multi-year plan;
  • Driving employee engagement and recognition activities, including facility social committee;
  • Supporting HR activities throughout the year, including the Annual Talent Review Process, Annual Goal Setting Process, Merit Review, Employee Engagement Survey.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A post-secondary degree and/or diploma in Human Resources or a related field;
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint;
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills;
  • A good understanding and knowledge of human resources principles, best practices, and applicable HR legislation;
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills;
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment;
  • Ability to work independently with initiative and leadership;
  • Strong attention to detail;
  • Ceridian Dayforce and/or SuccessFactors experience is a definite asset.
Salary and Benefits

The salary for this position is approximately $65,000 - $85,000 per annum, depending on experience. Additionally, Ventura Foods offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision coverage, out-of-country/emergency medical travel insurance, and employee appreciation events.
