About the Role

Momentum Developmental Support Corporation is seeking a skilled Developmental Service Worker to join our team. As a Developmental Service Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with developmental disabilities in a group home setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conflict Resolution: Resolve conflict situations in a calm and professional manner, ensuring the well-being of clients and staff.
  • Client Supervision: Supervise activities of clients living in group homes and half-way houses, promoting independence and self-advocacy.
  • Special Needs Support: Assist clients/guests with special needs, providing personalized care and support.
  • Accompaniment: Accompany clients to appointments and social outings, promoting socialization and community integration.
Requirements
  • Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • Work Setting: Group home, work in employer's/client's home, or private residence.
  • Certifications: First Aid Certificate, Criminal record check.
  • Transportation: Own transportation, own vehicle, valid driver's licence.
  • Work Conditions: Fast-paced environment, work under pressure, physically demanding.
  • Weight Handling: Up to 13.5 kg (30 lbs).
  • Personal Suitability: Efficient interpersonal skills, excellent oral communication, judgement, client focus, excellent written communication, flexibility, initiative, team player.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience: Experience an asset.
  • Financial Benefits: As per collective agreement, permanent employment, 12 to 40 hours bi-weekly, English language of work.
