Job Summary

The Production Manager will lead the production activities at the Winnipeg, Manitoba location, overseeing the production operations with a focus on health and safety, production costs, personnel development, and human resources standards.


This role requires a strong leader who can direct a management team of 4 employees and an hourly team of approximately 25 ununionized employees.



Main Responsibilities

  • Lead a management team and supervise hourly employees to ensure efficient and effective production operations.
  • Mentor and train plant management/supervisor teams to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with provincial regulatory bodies, including Environment, Employment Standards, Safety Lead, and others.
  • Foster positive relationships on the plant floor and at all levels of the business, as well as with external contacts.
  • Take a leadership role in the Health and Safety program, driving a safety-focused culture on the plant floor.
  • Administrate and publish reports on first aids, medical aids, and lost-time accidents.
  • Assume responsibility for maintaining, enhancing, developing, and ensuring compliance with HACCP plans, GMPs, SOPs, and procedures within the Production department.
  • Provide support and facilitate effective work group meetings within the production department.


Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:



  • A minimum of 3-5 years of supervisory experience in manufacturing, preferably in a rendering or food manufacturing environment.
  • A Post-secondary education and/or University Degree in Engineering, Agriculture, Science, or a related field.
  • A proven track record of JHSC leadership or engagement, with full comprehension of Bill C45 and Bill 168.
  • Excellent analytical, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Strong coaching/mentoring skills to assist with staff development.
  • Proven ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • High level of computer competency, including knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
