Your Opportunity:

Alberta Health Services is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) to join our multidisciplinary surgical care team at the Peter Lougheed Centre. As an Orthopedic Specialist, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive health services to individuals across their lifespan. Your role will include integrating clinical skills associated with nursing and medicine to assess, diagnose, order, and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe treatment, and perform procedures to manage and meet the health needs of patients.

Description:

As an Advanced Practice Nurse, you will be accountable for practicing within your legislated scope, CRNA regulatory documents, and Alberta Health Services governance documents. You will work collaboratively with the orthopedic and multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality care to patients. Your expertise will include advanced clinical practice, education, nursing leadership, and research. You will also be required to assess your practice to support individual competency and professional growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Integrate clinical skills associated with nursing and medicine to assess, diagnose, order, and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe treatment, and perform procedures.
  2. Work collaboratively with the orthopedic and multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality care to patients.
  3. Develop and maintain advanced practice nursing competencies.
  4. Participate in quality improvement and research activities.

Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program and a minimum of master's degree.
  • Registration with CRNA on the Nurse Practitioner Registrar including Provisional Graduate Nurse Practitioner licensure.
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
  • Orthopedic and NP experience is an asset.
