About the Role

We are seeking a talented Junior Mechanical Designer to join our team at Smartrend Manufacturing Group. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for creating innovative and effective mechanical designs for our diverse customer base.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in new development activities, including research, design, prototyping, analysis, and qualification of various multidisciplinary products.
  • Create designs and drawings of mechanical components and assemblies using Solid Works CAD software.
  • Support definition of product test requirements and support test execution in onsite R&D lab.
  • Help product hand off to manufacturing and in-field implementation, throughout Canada and the USA.
  • Participate in initial and ongoing design and technical reviews.
  • Assist in managing drawing database.
  • Other engineering-related activities, as required.
Requirements
  • Mechanical Engineering degree or diploma from a recognized university or college.
  • Possess creativity for product development.
  • Computer knowledge and skills with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Solid Works or similar CAD software.
  • Good communication skills to collaborate with customers and multiple-disciplinary teams.
  • An energetic, diligent work ethic and able to work with little supervision.
  • Able to travel within Canada, the USA, and internationally, as required.
