Intake Coordinator for Mental Health Programs

Job Description:
The Intake Specialist plays a crucial role in the Mental Health & Substance Use (MHSU) team at Phoenix Society. This position is responsible for coordinating intake processes for bed-based programs, ensuring a smooth and efficient experience for applicants and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the coordination of intake and admissions processes, including pre-screening and assessment interviews, communication with referral sources, and completion of required documentation.
- Communicate program structure, services, and guidelines to applicants, ensuring they have the necessary information to make an informed decision about admission.
- Present pre-screening and assessment information to the MHSU and housing teams to determine suitability of applicants for the programs and schedules for prioritized admission.
- Ensure all inquiries are handled professionally and courteously, providing accurate, timely, and helpful information to the public and community stakeholders.
- Participate in the ongoing development, maintenance, and evaluation of an effective pre-screening and assessment process.
Requirements:
- Post-secondary diploma in counselling, social work, community services, or equivalent.
- 1-3 years of experience in an admissions setting and working with marginalized populations, substance use services, mental health, corrections, etc.
- Satisfactory completion of a Criminal Records Check with vulnerable sector screening, Tuberculosis Screening form, Employee Immunization Record form, and First Aid Certificate with CPR.
- Valid driver's license.
