About the Role

The Ontario Energy Board is seeking a skilled and experienced individual to fill the position of Chief Commissioner. This role is responsible for leading the adjudication process, ensuring independence, transparency, and effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Efficiently manage the adjudicative functions, including directing and supervising Commissioners.
  • Establish panels of Commissioners to preside over rate, facility, utility consolidation, and market-related applications.
  • Maintain impartiality and fairness in decision-making processes.
  • Provide regular reports to the Board of Directors on the efficiency and timeliness of adjudicative matters.
  • Ensure compliance with legislative requirements, administrative law, and natural justice principles.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Academic qualifications in law, administrative law, or a related field, along with experience in energy regulation or quasi-judicial tribunals.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex decisions to diverse stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of economic regulation, administrative law, and natural justice principles.
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks, policies, and procedures.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
