About the Role

The Home Support Worker (HSW) is an integral member of our team at Retirement Concepts, providing person-centered care to our residents. This role involves following established personal service plans, providing personal care, and responding to call bell alarms.

Responsibilities

  • Follows established personal service plans.
  • Provides personal care for residents, including medication assistance, bathing, grooming, dressing, and assisting with meals.
  • Responds to call bell alarms and observes and monitors residents' progress, symptoms, and behavioral changes.
  • Involves residents in organizing and maintaining their home environment.
  • Encourages and assists residents to participate in social, physical, spiritual, and recreational activities.
  • Maintains an up-to-date knowledge of community policies and procedures.
  • Attends and participates in community and education programs.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Graduate from a recognized Care Aide Program.
  • Active registration with the British Columbia Care Aide & Community Health Worker Registry.
  • Valid First Aid Level 1 certification and current CPR.
  • Medication Administration Certification required.
  • Previous experience in a care community preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English proficiently and understand verbal and written instructions.
  • All successful applicants must pass the vulnerable sector Criminal Record Check applicable to Provincial guidelines.
  • Must be in good health, physically able to perform repetitive tasks, lift, squat, bend, stand, and walk as required to perform the duties of the position.
