As an Operations Director - Food and Beverage at Marriott International, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily kitchen utility operations and staff. Your areas of responsibility will include dish room operations, night cleaning, back dock cleaning and maintenance, banquet plating and food running. You will supervise kitchen employees not actively engaged in cooking (e.g., dishwashers, kitchen helpers, etc.).

Your goal is to continually improve guest and employee satisfaction while maintaining the operating budget. To achieve this, you will:

Manage Day-to-Day Operations:

  • Order and manage necessary supplies, ensuring workers have the equipment, tools, and uniforms necessary to do their jobs.
  • Schedule events, programs, and activities, as well as the work of others.
  • Monitor the inflow of ordered materials and the maintenance of current materials.
  • Inform and/or update the executives, peers, and subordinates on relevant information in a timely manner.

Lead Kitchen Team:

  • Utilize interpersonal and communication skills to lead, influence, and encourage others; advocate sound financial/business decision making; demonstrate honesty/integrity; lead by example.
  • Supervise and manage employees, understanding their positions well enough to perform duties in their absence.
  • Provide leadership, vision, and direction to bring together and prioritize departmental goals in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Ensure and maintain the productivity level of employees.

Ensuring Exceptional Customer Service:

  • Attend meetings and communicate with executives, peers, and subordinates to improve quality of service.
  • Manage day-to-day operations, ensuring quality, standards, and meeting customer expectations on a daily basis.
  • Empower employees to provide excellent customer service.

This role requires a strong understanding of budgets, operating statements, and payroll progress reports. You will also be responsible for recruiting, interviewing, selecting, hiring, and promoting employees, as well as participating in employee performance appraisal processes. The estimated salary for this position is $65,000 annually.
