About the Role:
Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Operating Room Nurse to join our team at BC Children's Hospital. As an Operating Room Nurse, you will provide direct patient care in accordance with established standards and collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure excellent patient outcomes.
Responsibilities:
- Plan direct care for patients by reviewing medical history, developing care plans, and consulting with healthcare teams.
- Provide direct patient care in accordance with ORNAC standards and contribute to family-centered care in the operating room setting.
- Maintain accurate patient records and communicate effectively with healthcare teams.
- Participate in orientation and continuing education of new learners on the interprofessional care team.
- Contribute to rounds, committees, and professional practice groups to enhance patient care and promote effective resource use.
- Maintain a safe environment for patients, families, and staff by following ORNAC standards and emergency procedures.
- Promote nursing research and quality improvement initiatives by participating in interprofessional committees.
Requirements:
- Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration as an RN with the British Columbia College of Nurses & Midwives (BCCNM).
- Successful completion of a post-graduate program in Operating Room Nursing or an equivalent combination of education, training, or experience.
- CPR Training – Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) – Level I.
- Current PALS certification.
- At least one (1) year of operating room experience is required.
