About the Role

The YMCA of Northern Alberta is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Support Worker to join our Community team. As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals, couples, and families who are experiencing homelessness and related challenges.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage caseloads, completing assessments, evaluations, and documentation to ensure effective support services.
  • Secure housing and rehousing for participants, ensuring they are settled in safe, affordable, and suitable accommodations.
  • Develop and implement participant support services within the Housing First Philosophy, demonstrating a commitment to empowering individuals to achieve stability and independence.
  • Build strong relationships with vulnerable populations, utilizing excellent interpersonal and communication skills to address their unique needs and challenges.
  • Collaborate with external service providers and community partners to ensure comprehensive support for participants.
  • Adhere to YMCA policies, procedures, and standards of conduct, ensuring a professional and respectful work environment.
Requirements
  • University degree in a Human Services or related field.
  • 2 years' experience working directly with vulnerable populations.
  • Standard First Aid and CPR certification, Child Welfare & Police Security Clearance with vulnerable sector check.
  • Annual registration in a professional organization as required by law if applicable.
  • WHMIS Certification preferred.
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention and Suicide Intervention Certification preferred.
  • Valid driver's license, clear driver's abstract, and access to a vehicle.
  • Experience working with diverse cultural groups, high-needs populations, and marginalized communities.
  • Experience working in a team environment.
