As a Maintenance Assistant, you will be responsible for a variety of maintenance activities, including:

  • Helping to ensure the overall safety and cleanliness of the building.
  • Responding to residents' maintenance requests (work orders) in a timely and professional manner.
  • Assisting with suite preparation for turnover, including carpet cleaning, painting, furniture moving and other tasks.
  • Supporting the Building Services Manager as needed, including responding to emergency situations.
  • Supporting other North Shore PARC properties when required and open to travel.

  • A supportive, diverse team and training opportunities. We believe in giving our people opportunities to advance wherever we can.
  • High-value benefits. We offer Extended Health, Vision, Dental, Life, AD&D and Disability Insurance, plus an Employee Assistance Program (EAP), to help protect your health, family and way of life. Plus: birthdays off with pay, parental top-ups and much more

It takes a special kind of person to work here – does this sound like you?

  • You are a pleasant and upbeat professional who brings positive energy to work each day.
  • You have a high school diploma and a minimum of three years' relevant experience in the hotel or senior-living industry.
  • You have successfully completed WHMIS, and possess a Facility Management or Class 5 Power Engineering certification. Completion of Building Services Worker Program is an asset, too.
  • You have a background in plumbing, electrical, heating, painting, basic carpentry and janitorial work, as well as with building and mechanical equipment maintenance and repair. Knowledge of mechanical systems and operations would be an asset, as well.
  • You have a basic understanding of physical plant operations, maintenance and trouble-shooting of major systems.
  • You are a critical thinker who is responsive and priority-sensitive; able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
  • You understand and respect the needs of seniors, their families, and and other professional services engaged with our residents.

At PARC Retirement Living we understand the importance of immunization to protect our residents, team members and visitors from COVID-19. As such, a prerequisite of employment is that all new hires are fully vaccinated as approved by Health Canada. We also require a Criminal Record Check, and a TB test within the first month of employment.
