Sault Area Hospital is committed to providing exceptional patient care, and we are seeking a skilled Medical Laboratory Technologist to join our team in a part-time capacity.

About the Role

This role will involve performing laboratory tests, collecting specimens, and reporting results to Patient Care Providers. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Performing laboratory procedures in accordance with department manuals and hospital policies;
  • Working in various laboratory subsections, including Transfusion Services, Clinical Chemistry, Microbiology, Histology, and Hematology;
  • Remaining current in laboratory medicine through ongoing education and professional development;
  • Communicating effectively with Patient Care Providers on laboratory matters and exercising independent judgment in specimen procurement, analysis, reporting, and interpretation of findings.
Requirements

To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:

  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant chemical, physical, or biological science from an accredited university;
  • At least one year of experience as a laboratory technician in a laboratory approved by the Director;
  • Recognition as a technologist by a recognized society in Canada, Great Britain, or the United States;
  • Alternatively, a diploma as a laboratory technologist from an Ontario Community College, or equivalent education and experience approved by the Director;
  • A minimum of one year of related work experience in a laboratory setting.
What We Offer

In return for your expertise and dedication, Sault Area Hospital offers a competitive salary of $70,000 - $90,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus benefits and opportunities for professional growth and development.
