Job Description

This role involves managing the policy/standard operating procedures (SOP) creation and publication process, providing technical writing expertise, managing the policy software, educating users in their use of the policy software and measuring adherence to policy review schedules and readership.

  • Provide support to responsible parties, ensuring policies and SOPs are reviewed and processed within the prescribed review period cycle.
  • Ensure that short-term operation advisories containing new or revised operational procedures are embodied within relevant SOPs in a timely manner.
  • Audit and review policy development workflow, ensuring timely review, approval and publication, ensure links to reference documents and resource material are maintained.
  • Coordinate questions, feedback and responses to comments, recommend changes considering the impact on related policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that outdated policies and SOPs are archived according to City of Calgary and Calgary 911 records management standards.
  • Ensure that all policies and procedures are written according to an established standard and style and are supplemented by the use of tables and graphics.
Requirements
  • A completed 2-year diploma in Business Administration, Communications or a related field and at least 3 years of related experience, OR
  • A degree in Business Administration, Communications or a related field and at least 1 year of related experience.
  • A certificate and/or experience with Records/Knowledge Management and previous experience with policy management software will be considered an asset.
  • Strong communication skills, time management and organizational skills with a high attention to detail.
  • The ability to work effectively in a team environment and build positive working relationships.
