We are seeking a seasoned Embedded Software Technical Manager to lead our R&D team in designing the next generation of electro-mechanical solutions for residential storage and solar needs.

This role emphasizes the need for technical leadership, project management skills, and a strong background in embedded software development.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to define firmware specifications and system requirements, drive the firmware development process from concept to release, and conduct regular code reviews to ensure code quality and adherence to coding standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of embedded firmware engineers, providing technical guidance, coaching, and performance feedback.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of embedded firmware solutions, ensuring adherence to project timelines, quality standards, and customer requirements.
  • Collaborate with hardware engineers, software architects, and product managers to define firmware specifications and system requirements.
  • Drive the firmware development process from concept to release, including firmware design, coding, testing, and debugging.
  • Conduct regular code reviews to ensure code quality, maintainability, and adherence to coding standards.
  • Define and implement efficient development methodologies, tools, and best practices to optimize firmware development processes.
  • Manage firmware project schedules, resource allocation, and deliverables, ensuring timely completion and successful project outcomes.
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks and challenges, proactively proposing solutions to ensure project success.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in embedded firmware development.
  • Collaborate with external partners and vendors, managing relationships and coordinating firmware-related activities.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of proven experience in embedded firmware development, including hands-on experience with programming languages like C/C++ for embedded Linux or other POSIX compliant operating system.
  • Strong leadership and managerial skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a team towards successful project delivery.
  • Deep understanding of embedded systems, microcontrollers, and real-time operating systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex firmware issues.
  • Experience with firmware development tools, debugging techniques, and version control systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Promotes and embraces the Test Driven Development (TDD) and Agile (Scrum) methodologies
