Accounts Payable Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Representative to join our team at Alterna Savings. As a key member of our Finance Operations department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the prompt and accurate processing and payment of vendor invoices and employee expense claims.
Key Responsibilities- Process and pay incoming vendor invoices and employee expense claims in a timely fashion, ensuring adherence to internal controls and corporate policies.
- Act as a liaison between suppliers and internal clients, providing timely and courteous responses to inquiries and resolving issues efficiently.
- Provide guidance and training to newer members of the Accounts Payable team, sharing knowledge and expertise to ensure a smooth functioning of the overall accounts payable function.
- Perform general ledger integrity processes, including month-end reconciliations and year-end accruals, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Participate in Finance Operations and corporate projects that impact the Accounts Payable function, contributing to process improvements and efficiency.
- University degree or college diploma in Accounting or 3 years equivalent experience in an Accounts Payable department.
- Strong general knowledge of Accounting, specifically as it relates to Accounts Payables and Accruals.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, and knowledge of Sage 300 (including AP and EFT modules) or other ERP systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to analyze and solve issues independently.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and work under pressure.
