Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our pediatric team at Fraser Health Authority. As a Registered Nurse in Pediatrics, you will provide direct patient care to pediatric patients in a pediatric inpatient unit and/or select ambulatory day clinics.

Responsibilities
  1. Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments of pediatric patients, collecting information from various sources and making nursing diagnoses to determine the best course of care.
  2. Collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare teams to develop, implement, and modify care plans, ensuring patient-centered care and promoting autonomy and dignity.
  3. Participate in care and discharge planning, ensuring effective care delivery and updating care plans as needed.
  4. Coordinate nursing care, prioritize tasks, and delegate responsibilities to support staff, making referrals to the inter-professional care team as required.
  5. Teach patients and families about illness prevention, health restoration, and health maintenance, assessing learning needs and providing information and demonstrations to support self-care and discharge planning.
  6. Document assessments, nursing diagnoses, interventions, patient responses, outcomes, and referrals according to practice standards and Fraser Health procedures.
  7. Participate in quality improvement and risk management activities, identifying patient care issues, collecting data, and providing input for corrective action.
Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Graduation from an approved School of Nursing and current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives.
  • One year's recent, related clinical nursing experience in the designated clinical area and completion of post-graduate coursework and/or certification applicable to the designated clinical area.
  • Clinical proficiency in pediatric nursing, with the ability to complete initial and ongoing patient assessments and apply pediatric nursing theory and expertise to provide nursing care.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to promote person-centered care and work collaboratively with the inter-professional care team.
