The role of a Cyber Security Engineer - IT Risk Management Lead at Davies involves being part of this vision by reporting directly to the Head of Cyber Security in Halifax, Canada. As a hands-on leader, you will investigate IT security alerts and incidents, monitor and maintain security tooling, SIEM, anti-virus, and vulnerability management platforms.

This pioneering position requires you to work independently for a couple of weeks or months, both in Halifax and in the cyber realm. You will lead, coach, and mentor local Cyber Security Engineers and Analysts, escalating incidents and issues when necessary.

Key Responsibilities

\• Lead and coach local Cyber Security Engineers and Analysts\• Act as the point of escalation for incidents and issues\• Operate IT security, monitoring and maintaining tools such as SIEM, anti-virus, and vulnerability management platforms\• Validate and assess newly identified vulnerabilities\• Assist with task planning and delegation for team members\• Review and/or update technical policies\• Support the CISO to deliver risk-based improvements\• Assist with IT security gap and risk assessments\• Collaborate with internal and external auditors

Skill Requirements

\For this role, you will need extensive practical operational security experience within a large complex organization. You must have demonstrated experience working with various teams, including development, data, project, and IT Service Desk, to support their respective activities and objectives.

You should possess in-depth knowledge of IT systems and applications, along with the ability to communicate information effectively to both tech-savvy and non-technical stakeholders. Confidently managing third-party supplier relationships is also essential.

A solid understanding of IT security best practices, common attack types, and detection/prevention methods is required. You should be familiar with CISecurity Benchmarks, OWASP, and NIST guidelines.

In addition, you will regularly review all aspects of the IT infrastructure and recommend improvements where appropriate. Experience in implementing and maintaining a cloud strategy is a plus.

Prior leadership, mentorship, and/or people management experience within a security setting is highly valued. Relevant IT security qualifications, such as GIAC GSEC and ISC2 CISSP, are desirable.

About the Role

\This position offers an estimated salary of CAD $120,000 per year. As a pioneer in Halifax, Canada, you will have the opportunity to shape the team and contribute to Davies' vision of being a diverse and inclusive workplace.
