Head Chef and Operations Manager

Oriental Grill is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head Chef and Operations Manager to lead our kitchen team. As a key member of our management team, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our restaurant, ensuring that food quality, service standards, and customer satisfaction are consistently met.
About the Role:
This is a dynamic and challenging opportunity for an ambitious and organized individual who is passionate about delivering exceptional cuisine and customer experiences. You will be responsible for managing the kitchen team, planning menus, ordering supplies, controlling costs, and maintaining high standards of hygiene and food safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the kitchen team, including recruitment, training, and performance management.
- Plan and implement menus, taking into account seasonal ingredients, customer preferences, and nutritional requirements.
- Order and manage stock levels, ensuring that we have the necessary ingredients and supplies to deliver excellent food quality.
- Control labor costs, manage staff rotas, and optimize kitchen efficiency.
- Maintain high standards of hygiene, health, and safety in the kitchen, adhering to relevant legislation and guidelines.
- Monitor and improve food quality, presentation, and consistency, working closely with the sous chef and kitchen staff.
Requirements:
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- Proven experience as a head chef or operations manager in a busy restaurant environment.
- Degree in culinary arts or hospitality management (desirable).
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of menu planning, costing, and inventory control.
- Experience with staff management, recruitment, and training.
- Basic knowledge of HR policies and procedures.
- A passion for delivering exceptional customer experiences and achieving high standards of quality.
Working Conditions:
This role involves working in a fast-paced kitchen environment, often under pressure to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality results. You will be required to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays. Travel may be required to attend training events, conferences, or supplier meetings.
