Salary Range

The estimated salary for this role is $80,000 - $120,000 per year, depending on experience.

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Facilities Manager to join our team in Toronto, Ontario. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and maintaining single or multiple client facilities, including:

  • Managing building staff and vendors
  • Coordinating space renovations
  • Client relationships

In addition to these responsibilities, the Facilities Manager will ensure profitability through effective planning, management, and development of effective controls and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Manage the total overall operation of the facilities in the areas of safety, productivity, and efficiency to the standards of the contract and to the satisfaction of our customers
  2. Develop and maintain an expandable comprehensive maintenance program
  3. Effectively manage employee performance
  4. Solve problems and/or conflicts in a professional manner
  5. Interface with internal and external customers
  6. Develop and implement shift schedules
  7. Manage and coordinate all utility building activities
  8. Prepare proposals for additions, deletions, and changes to the contract scope
  9. Track, analyze, and trend project costs
  10. Responsible for the development and management of operational and capital projects
  11. Plan and prepare project schedules, milestones, and budgets
  12. Establish and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with vendors
  13. Prepare and negotiate contracts
  14. Adhere to health, safety, quality control, and environmental policies
  15. Inventory and order equipment, materials, and supplies
  16. Review and approve all expenditures
  17. Respond to facility emergencies after hours
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • 3-5 years' experience in building maintenance or related trade
  • Strong knowledge of building electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and building structural systems
  • Experience in maintaining and managing all building services utilizing contractors and in-house staff
  • Experience with commercial/institutional buildings, project management, and hydro/water/HVAC is an asset
  • Knowledge of local and national electrical codes, National Building Code, and National Fire Code is required
  • Multiple years of experience in an airport/airline setting is an asset
  • Demonstrated experience in problem-solving abilities
  • Proven track record supervising multiple teams
  • Excellent time management skills, ability to shift priorities on an ad hoc basis, and flexibility with working hours
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to be assertive while maintaining diplomacy and political awareness
  • Ability to anticipate customer's needs and to proactively implement solutions
  • Ability to motivate, lead, and facilitate a cross-functional work team to achieve objectives
