WhiteWater Ski Resort is a premier winter destination, renowned for its exceptional snow conditions and stunning natural beauty. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Snow Safety Professional to join our team.

Job Summary

We offer a competitive salary of $70,000 - $90,000 per year, commensurate with experience, plus additional benefits. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safety of our guests and staff by monitoring weather and snowpack conditions, implementing avalanche risk management decisions, and providing training and mentorship to employees.

About the Role

As a Snow Safety Professional, you will be the lead forecaster on a daily basis, responsible for managing daily avalanche operations and multiple control routes. You will provide a daily avalanche hazard assessment and forecast, oversee avalanche control programs resort-wide, and ensure that terrain with elevated risk is closed to the public.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide supervision and direction for all workers and guests in and around avalanche terrain.
  • Develop and implement effective avalanche risk management strategies.
  • Ensure accurate and timely weather observations are recorded.
  • Administer first aid to injured guests and staff.
  • Investigate accidents and incidents, including near misses, and report findings to management.

Requirements

  • NUEC Level 3 First Aid certification or equivalent.
  • Avalanche Operations Level 2 certification from the Canadian Avalanche Association.
  • Work Safe BC Blasting Certificate for Avalanche Control with Hand Charging endorsement.
  • Canadian Avalanche Association Avalanche Professional membership.
  • Minimum three years of avalanche forecasting and explosive control experience.
  • Class 5 British Columbia Driver's License.
