Job Summary

The University Health Network is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Ward Clerk to join our Medical Surgical Intensive Care Unit team. As a key member of our administrative team, you will provide exceptional support to our healthcare professionals, ensuring the efficient operation of the unit.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform reception duties, including answering phone calls and responding to inquiries
  • Provide clerical support, including data entry, filing, and maintaining patient charts
  • Organize and maintain electronic and paper information filing systems
  • Coordinate unit administrative functions, including scheduling and coordinating appointments and meetings
  • Ensure the efficient operation of the unit, within the scope of authority

Requirements

  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Minimum one year related clerical experience
  • General knowledge of office practices, processes, and procedures
  • Previous on-the-job computer word processing and spreadsheet experience
  • Good data entry and keyboarding skills
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and prioritization skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • Ability to produce high-quality work in accordance with Hospital standards
  • Ability to work effectively and safely in stressful situations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completion of a recognized post-secondary secretarial arts program at the certificate level or equivalent
  • Experience working in a Microsoft Office software environment
  • Experience working in a healthcare environment
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
