Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Underwriter, Regional Property to join our team at Definity. As a key member of our underwriting team, you will be responsible for assessing, accepting, and declining new business submissions, as well as re-underwriting and negotiating renewals and policy endorsements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assessing and evaluating new business submissions to determine risk and make informed underwriting decisions
  • Re-underwriting and negotiating renewals and policy endorsements to ensure optimal risk management and profitability
  • Ordering inspections, financial reports, and other underwriting information to support risk assessment and decision-making
  • Negotiating terms and conditions of risk acceptance with brokers and other stakeholders
  • Providing technical support and guidance to brokers and other team members
  • Participating in production calls and meetings to discuss underwriting decisions and strategies
  • Mentoring and supporting less experienced team members to develop their skills and knowledge
  • Contribute to the profitable growth of the business by identifying and mitigating risk factors and developing strategic partnerships with brokers
Requirements
  • University degree or equivalent in a relevant field, such as business, finance, or risk management
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in commercial property and casualty underwriting
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with brokers and other stakeholders
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines
