About the Job


The Distribution Hand is a critical member of the Rocky Mountaineer team responsible for receiving and processing orders from the train, loading inventory onto the rail cars, and maintaining accurate records.



Job Summary

This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with varying schedules. The successful candidate will be able to lift up to 45 lbs regularly and work in an indoor/outdoor setting.



Key Responsibilities


  • Receive and process orders from the train, accurately packing inventory for transfer to the rail cars.
  • Loading and securing inventory onto pallets for transport to other Rocky Mountaineer facilities as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of all inventory moved from the warehouse to the train and other departments within the Kamloops Operations Centre.
  • Operate equipment such as forklifts (if certified) and pallet jacks adhering to all safety protocols.
  • Perform general maintenance on tools and equipment to ensure their proper functioning.
  • Receive orders as needed or requested and maintain a clean warehouse environment.
  • Participate in monthly stock take and inventory reconciliation and complete various facility and warehouse duties that may assist other team members.


Safety Requirements


  • Comply with all Canadian Railway Operating Rules (CROR), and General Operating Instructions (GOI) and all other safety policies, procedures & rules.
  • Identify, protect & report safety hazards to management & OH&S Committee.
  • Must wear required PPE as prescribed by Rocky Mountaineer and host railways.
  • Required to attend and maintain basic first aid level provided by Rocky Mountaineer.


Compensation and Benefits

The base salary offered for this role is $24 per hour. Additional benefits include:

Requirements

To be considered for this role, candidates must have:




  • High school graduation or equivalent
  • Class 5 BC driver's license
  • Forklift certification is an asset
  • First Aid Certification is an asset
  • Prior experience working in a warehouse is an asset
  • Qualification and/or proven knowledge in safe heavy equipment operations such as forklifts, cranes, etc. is an asset
  • Good communication skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Able to take personal accountability and be adaptable with a problem solver mindset
  • Able to work cross-functionally
  • Broadly comfortable using computers and other electronic devices
