Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Estimator to join our team at Summa Architectural & Structural Metal Inc. as a Trade Contractors Estimating Specialist. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing estimates of labour and/or material costs, operating CADD and other computer software systems, and providing economic feasibility studies and preliminary estimates for proposed projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare estimates of labour and/or material costs for commercial and industrial construction projects
- Operate CADD and other computer software systems to create accurate estimates
- Provide economic feasibility studies and preliminary estimates for proposed projects
- Prepare and submit estimate reports, quote sheets, and bids forms
- Utilize quantity take-off procedures to ensure accurate estimates
- Advise on tendering procedures and set up cost monitoring and reporting systems
- Monitor and adjust contract expenditures to ensure project stays within budget
- Prepare and maintain directory of supplies and trade contractors
- Liaise with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates
- Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings, and specifications to ensure accurate estimates
Requirements:
- College/CEGEP education or equivalent experience
- 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in estimating or a related field
- Architecture, commercial and/or industrial construction, institutional construction, and structural engineering experience
- $500,001 - $1,500,000 project size estimating experience
- Hybrid work environment
