About the Opportunity

The Nutrition and Food Services team at Nova Scotia Health is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Utility Worker. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing and serving meals to patients, residents, and staff, as well as cleaning and sanitizing patient trays and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and serve patient meals, including assembling, portioning, and serving food and beverages
  • Clean and sanitize patient trays, equipment, and work areas
  • Participate in receiving and storing supplies, including food and non-food items
  • Inventory management and menu duties, including generating and printing menus and reports
  • Food safety and sanitation, including maintaining a clean and safe work environment
About You

We are looking for a team player who is able to work independently and as part of a team to provide excellent customer service and achieve departmental goals. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Grade 12/GED or equivalent
  • Demonstrated competency in English and basic math
  • Restaurant experience and customer service skills are considered assets
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
  • Ability to lift up to 35-40lbs and stand for long periods
Hours and Compensation

This is a long-assignment, part-time position with approximately 37.5 hours biweekly. The hourly rate is $20.02. Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package, including health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
