An exciting opportunity awaits an experienced Senior Clinical Psychiatrist to join our esteemed team at Ravensview, part of Homewood Health Inc., the national leader in mental health and addictions treatment in Canada. This program is delivered on-site at Ravensview, in a collaborative manner, with a supportive interdisciplinary team, which includes nurses, dieticians, social workers, occupational therapists, recreational therapists, and horticulture therapists.

Ravensview is a private 75-bed mental health, trauma, and addiction facility offering evidence-based, medically-led, inpatient services for first responders, military, veterans, executives & professionals, adults, and young adults. Located in North Saanich on 28 acres of forested hillside, Ravensview offers clients a comfortable and safe environment featuring serene ocean views from spacious rooms, welcoming common areas and a world-class team of physicians, psychiatrists, counsellors, and 24-hour nursing professionals.

About the Role:
  • Clinically responsible for assigned patients including admission, assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, monitoring, referral, daily care, and discharge.
  • Collaborate with other physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals in providing optimal patient care within an interdisciplinary team.
  • Complete documentation including admission history, mental status, diagnostic impression, treatment plan, weekly progress notes, comprehensive discharge summary, and if applicable third-party reports, of the highest quality to ensure the medical record is meaningful and useful and a treatment plan can be established by the team.

To succeed in this role, you will require:

Requirements:
  • A specialist certification in Psychiatry from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent body acceptable to the Royal College and in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia (CPSBC).
  • Experience with diagnosis and management of complex psychiatric disorders and comorbid mental health and substance use disorders.
  • Faculty appointment – experience in working with medical students and residents.
  • Strong ability to negotiate and influence with proven critical thinking, analysis, and complex problem-solving skills.
  • Continued involvement in medical education and teaching.
  • Demonstrated commitment to infection prevention and control needs of the hospital.
  • Working knowledge of Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and the principles of trauma-informed care.
