At GEI Consultants Inc., we are seeking a highly skilled Environmental Consultant to join our natural heritage team in southern Ontario. This dynamic role involves working on environmental approvals for various industries, including land development, linear infrastructure, and resource extraction. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing project deliverables, coordinating fieldwork, liaising with clients and stakeholders, and project management duties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage consulting projects, including budget and timeline tracking, to ensure efficient delivery of results;
  • Collaborate with clients, approval authorities, and other consulting firms to achieve project objectives and provide innovative solutions;
  • Conduct field programs to assess natural heritage features, Species at Risk, and other environmental considerations, utilizing skills such as reptile, amphibian, and bird identification;
  • Develop natural heritage assessments, inventories, and impact assessments, as well as prepare technical correspondence and project reports;
  • Liaise with internal practices outside of natural heritage, such as stormwater and civil engineering, geostructural and geotechnical engineering, climate change and adaptation, and restoration practices to provide comprehensive solutions;
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in biology, ecology, environmental planning, ecological restoration, or a related field;
  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in environmental consulting or a related field, with experience managing projects and clients an asset;
  • Strong written and verbal communication, organizational, and time management skills, with the ability to interpret and critically assess information in terms of relevant legislation, policies, and guidelines;
  • Field survey experience, familiarity with GIS, ecological restoration concepts and plans, Ecological Land Classification (ELC) training, Ontario Wetland Evaluation System (OWES) training, and arborist certification are additional assets;
  • A valid Ontario driver's license is required.
