Medical Department Head

The Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Medical Department Head to lead the Hospitalist Zone Department. This is an exciting opportunity to take on a leadership role and contribute to the delivery of high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide strategic and operational planning and service leadership for the Hospitalist Zone Department.
- Hold responsibility for the administrative functioning of the department, including scheduling, on-call coverage, and locum utilization.
- Work collaboratively with Hospitalist Site Leads, Medical Site Leads, and operational leadership to ensure service continuity and meet key patient flow objectives.
- Sit on the Zone Medical Advisory Committee, providing advice on quality of care, teaching and research responsibilities, and departmental objectives.
- Monitor and improve access and flow for the zone, including community hospitals and cross-facility transfers.
- Ensure the maintenance of professional standards within the department and implement quality assurance and improvement initiatives.
