Business Development Specialist for Venture Tech and Emerging Growth

This role presents an opportunity to join a vibrant group of professionals contributing to the business development efforts of our national firm. You will work directly with the Office Managing Partner, local practice groups, and select national practice and sector groups, with a focus on our National Venture Technology and Emerging Growth Group, to expand current and new client relationships and drive revenue through the development of short- and long-term business development plans and strategies.
The successful candidate must be based in Ottawa, which offers a unique blend of tech and entrepreneurship opportunities. The Dentons Ottawa office is a fast-paced environment with close to 100 members, integrated with all of the Dentons offices across Canada and globally.
Responsibilities- Support the office in various profile-raising activities, including events and sponsorships.
- Contribute to the development of practice and sector project plans and deliver on owned accountabilities for assigned practice and sector groups.
- Prepare agendas and materials for practice and sector group meetings.
- Facilitate business planning for assigned groups and support execution of business development plan action items.
- Develop creative content for social media and track delivery of business initiatives.
- Participate in conversations around directory submissions and prepare draft submissions for review.
- Prepare client reports and work with the Events team to ensure event preparation and delivery.
- Draft information packages and other client-pitch materials.
- Support enhancement of client lists and provide clear direction when liaising with marketing teams.
- 5+ years of experience in marketing and/or business development in a professional services environment.
- Solid business acumen and knowledge of the venture tech/startup sector.
- Experience with social media platforms, particularly LinkedIn.
- Proven success providing end-to-end coordination of business development initiatives.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with a focus on PowerPoint.
$85,000 - $110,000 per annum, depending on experience.
