Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Genetics Technologist to join our team at Shared Health. The successful candidate will be responsible for clinical analysis and reporting on patient samples according to established protocols.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in genetics and genomics, with experience in laboratory settings. A graduate of an approved Genetics Technology program is required, or successful completion of the CMLTM Prior Learning Assessment process for the Genomics specialty.

The Clinical Genetics Technologist will work under the general supervision of the Charge or delegate, assisting in lab projects such as SOPs, chemical inventories, and maintaining a safe environment in accordance with professional and provincial guidelines.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with quality assurance programs and maintaining standards put forth by Accreditation. Functions are conducted in accordance with the Mission and Values of Shared Health, current policies, procedures, and applicable legislation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform clinical analysis and reporting on patient samples according to established protocols.
  • Assist in lab projects such as SOPs, chemical inventories, and maintaining a safe environment.
  • Ensure compliance with quality assurance programs and maintain standards put forth by Accreditation.
  • Work under the general supervision of the Charge or delegate.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an approved Genetics Technology program or successful completion of the CMLTM Prior Learning Assessment process for the Genomics specialty.
  • Previous genetics and genomics related experience preferred.
  • Current or eligible for Clinical Genetics or Molecular Genetics registration with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Manitoba (CMLTM) required.
  • Current membership with the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) considered an asset.
Working Conditions

The Clinical Genetics Technologist will work in a laboratory setting, rotating through various workstations as required. The incumbent will be exposed to all hazards and dangers incumbent in working in a laboratory.
