Job Title: Senior Data Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Engineer to join our team at Ontario Teachers Insurance Plan (OTIP). As a key member of our data engineering team, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining large-scale data pipelines using Azure data platform stack.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement data pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Databricks, and Azure Logic Apps
  • Design and implement data models for operational and analytical reporting
  • Implement Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines for automated code deployment
  • Convert existing SSIS packages to Azure Data Factory and craft cloud-native solutions for data warehousing
  • Monitor data pipelines to ensure robustness, security, and adherence to Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
  • Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders to deliver data architecture and solutions for critical platform portfolio projects
  • Lead data migration from on-premises to cloud environments, ensuring solutions adhere to OTIP's architecture standards
  • Lead and mentor junior data engineers
  • Effectively collaborate with various teams and partners within the organization
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Management, Engineering, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience working as a data engineer in Azure data platform
  • Hands-on experience in developing and orchestrating pipelines using Azure Data Factory
  • Successful completion of at least one data migration from on-premises to a public cloud
  • Solid understanding of relational databases, data manipulation, data storage, and data modeling
  • Understanding of business intelligence reporting tools, preferably Power BI
  • Hands-on experience in Microsoft data technologies, such as SSIS, SSRS, and SSAS
  • Strong technical skills in SQL, Python, and Spark
  • Knowledge or experience in Azure DevOps, Azure Data Factory, and Azure Databricks is an asset
