Job Description

We are seeking a seasoned professional to lead our organization's pork division as an expert and senior voice in the industry.

About the Role
  • This is a full-time, permanent position based at the Canadian Meat Council office in Ottawa, ON, Canada.
  • The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's degree in business or a related field, combined with over 10-15 years of experience in the meat industry, preferably pork.
Main Responsibilities
  1. Provide a vision for the Canadian pork industry while working closely with colleagues, funding members, and the Board of Directors.
  2. Lead and mentor a high-performance team in a fast-paced industry, fostering collaborative relationships with the Canadian Pork Council (CPC) and Provincial Pork Organizations (PPO).
  3. Define market access strategies and ensure alignment to maintain Canada's leadership position in the pork market domestically and globally.
  4. Champion competitive regulatory policies to sustain Canada's global competitiveness.
  5. Establish and maintain strategic relationships with government representatives, foreign countries, missions abroad, CP members, and key clients in targeted markets.
  6. Oversight of operations and programs in Japan and China.
  7. Support CP members with market access, trade development, program and service functions, government programs, communications, and major events.
  8. Contribute to building the pork section of the strategic plan and annual planning.
  9. Promote Agri-Marketing funding applications for the pork division and define funding policies and priorities for members.
  10. Enhance the market share of further processed pork and value-added products in domestic and global markets.
  11. Elevate key pork division opportunities and constraints to the CMC/CPC Joint Advocacy Committee.
  12. Participate in the CMC Pork Committee and facilitate action within the pork division.
  13. Inform and support the CEO on all matters related to the CMC Pork Division.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • A strong understanding of meat specifications and the Canadian food retail industry.
  • Ability to execute contracts, manage budgets, and evaluate performance.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong strategic relationships and networks within the industry.
  • Extensive technical knowledge of meat specifications.
Salary and Benefits

The estimated salary for this position is approximately $150,000-$200,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications. The package also includes comprehensive benefits, including health insurance, retirement savings, and paid time off.
