About the Role

The BC Council of Forest Industries (COFI) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Executive Officer to lead the organization in its mission to promote a healthy, diversified, and sustainable forest industry in British Columbia.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership and advocacy for the BC forest industry, working closely with government, First Nations, and other stakeholders to advance the interests of the sector.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to drive growth, innovation, and sustainability in the industry, while ensuring alignment with government policies and priorities.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including government officials, First Nations leaders, and industry partners.
  • Lead the organization's advocacy efforts, working to influence policy and decision-making at all levels of government.
  • Develop and implement effective communication strategies to promote the industry's interests and achievements.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the organization's senior leadership team, ensuring the effective delivery of programs and services.
  • Ensure the organization's financial sustainability, developing and managing budgets, and overseeing financial planning and reporting.
Requirements
  • Over 15 years' experience in senior leadership roles, with a strong track record of success in advocacy, policy development, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with diverse stakeholders, including government officials, First Nations leaders, and industry partners.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex ideas and issues to a variety of audiences.
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop and implement effective solutions to complex challenges.
  • Experience working in a high-profile, high-stakes environment, with a strong ability to manage risk and uncertainty.
  • Intimate knowledge of BC's unique ecosystem and stakeholders, with a strong understanding of the province's forest industry and its challenges.
What We Offer

COFI offers a highly competitive compensation package, including a base salary of CAD $250K-350K, short-term bonus, and benefits.
