Blood Transfusion Medicine Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Blood Transfusion Medicine Specialist to join our team at William Osler Health System.
About the RoleAs a Blood Transfusion Medicine Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and effective transfusion of blood products to patients. This includes performing quality control checks, investigating abnormal results, and collaborating with healthcare teams to ensure accurate and timely transfusions.
Responsibilities- Transfusion Medicine: Performs quality control checks on blood products, investigates abnormal results, and ensures accurate and timely transfusions.
- Laboratory Operations: Monitors temperature and expiry dates of blood and blood component products, discards outdated or compromised products as required.
- Quality Management: Actively participates in the laboratory quality management system and process improvements.
- Clinical Support: Assists at bone marrow collections, checks specimen for acceptability, and processes in-house and send-out test requests.
To be successful in this role, you must have:
- A Medical Laboratory Technologist diploma and CSMLS certification.
- Current registration with CMLTO in good standing.
- A minimum of two years recent transfusion medicine experience in a hospital laboratory setting.
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and maintain high levels of productivity, competence, and professionalism.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
This is a full-time position offering a competitive salary range of $80,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience. In addition, you will receive a comprehensive benefits package, including health and dental insurance, pension plan, and paid time off.
