The City of Vancouver seeks a highly skilled Senior Development Permit Coordinator to join its Development, Buildings & Licensing team.

About the Job:

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to manage and coordinate complex development permit applications. As the primary contact for project applicants, interdepartmental staff teams, and the community, you will play a crucial role in ensuring timely and effective processing of these applications.

About the Role:

  • Manage the processing of development permit applications from pre-application to issuance, including coordinating with Building Permit and Occupancy Permit staff as needed.
  • Evaluate development permit applications using applicable City policies, by-laws, and requirements, and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
  • IDentify and resolve conflicts between review staff, applicants, and the community, promoting collaborative decision-making and problem-solving among diverse stakeholders.
  • Engage with applicants and community members through strong interpersonal, public engagement, and communication skills, fostering effective relationships and resolving issues efficiently.
  • Coordinate public engagement initiatives, including organizing public meetings and responding to inquiries from the public.
  • Establish and oversee project schedules, ensuring timely completion of tasks and approval processes.
  • Facilitate and chair meetings, coordinate report preparation for the Development Permit Board, and work with staff to prepare projects for committees (e.g., Heritage Commission, Urban Design Panel).

About You:

  • Degree in Planning, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Considerable experience in planning and development, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Previous experience in a related position with project management responsibilities.
  • Strong knowledge of the development permit approval process, Zoning and Development By-law, and other related by-laws.
  • Demonstrated teamwork, facilitation, project management, and communication skills, with considerable skills in collaborative decision-making.
  • Ability to write reports, communicate complex ideas, and provide recommendations to resolve potential challenges.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, and influence staff teams, and successfully coordinate multiple projects in various stages of development.
  • Experience leading public consultation processes and facilitating problem-solving among diverse stakeholders.

Compensation:$104,341 - $137,056 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
