Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced financial lines underwriting professional to join our Canadian team. The successful candidate will be responsible for evaluating and analyzing financial lines insurance risks for a wide range of clients in Canada. The role will involve assessing risk factors, determining coverage and pricing, and collaborating with other stakeholders to develop and implement underwriting strategies that align with the company's goals and guidelines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and analyze financial lines insurance submissions and assess risk exposures.
  • Evaluate and analyze historical loss data, risk management practices, financials, and other relevant information to determine appropriate coverage terms, conditions, and pricing.
  • Collaborate with brokers and clients to provide risk management advice and develop comprehensive insurance programs that meet their needs.
  • Negotiate policy terms, conditions, and pricing with brokers and clients, while adhering to underwriting guidelines and profitability targets.
  • Underwrite new and renewal book of business.
  • Stay up-to-date with market trends, industry developments, and regulatory changes to effectively assess risk exposures and determine appropriate coverage solutions.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree or relevant work experience.
  • At least 5 years of financial lines underwriting experience, preferably in the Canadian market.
  • Strong knowledge of financial lines insurance products, coverages, underwriting guidelines, and risk assessment techniques.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, brokers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and provide guidance to more junior underwriters.
  • Knowledge of Canadian insurance regulations and market trends.
  • Ability to travel as required.
  • French language is an asset.
