Position Overview:

As a Registered Early Childhood Educator with the YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka, you will play a vital role in fostering a nurturing environment for children to grow and develop. This is an exciting opportunity to join a professional and passionate team dedicated to providing high-quality childcare services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide personal care to children, including toileting, first aid, and medication administration.
  • Engage with children, ensuring their safety and supervision in a group setting.
  • Plan and implement play-based learning in accordance with the YMCA Curriculum.
  • Communicate effectively with families, staff, and volunteers.
  • Create an inclusive environment, supporting children with exceptional behaviors and additional needs.
  • Demonstrate behaviors aligned with our Mission, Vision, and Values.
  • Adhere to work schedules and provide adequate notice for unexpected changes.
  • Demonstrate flexibility with routines and schedules.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 18 years of age.
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR (Level C) certification or completion within the first 90 days.
  • Vulnerable Sector Check.
  • Up-to-date immunizations or equivalent.
  • Availability: Monday to Friday, 37.5-40 hours per week, between 7:00am and 6:00pm.
  • Passion for working with children and providing quality play-based learning.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 20 kg, and participate in physical activities.
  • Ability to work outdoors for at least 2 hours daily, year-round, in all weather conditions.
  • ECE Diploma or active enrollment in an Early Childhood Education program.
  • Registered Early Childhood Educator, registered and a member in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE) or willing to obtain registration.
